After four days in Lecce, I would make a train, and then bus trip from Lecce to Vieste. There is no train service to Vieste, so the plan was to take the train to Foggia, and then a bus from the train terminal in Foggia to Vieste. Vieste is an old town at the tip of the Gargano Peninsula. The Gargano is a small Italian peninsula protruding into the Adriatic about halfway north on Italy’s east coast. It’s mostly national park, with a long limestone cliff along the coastline that’s pitted with caves in some areas, and long, flat, sparkling sand beaches in others. It’s a beautiful area, and the roads are incredibly twisty.
